Researcher biography

Matthew is an energy and climate change policy expert with 10 years’ experience spanning academia, government and private industry. He holds unique transdisciplinary skills across policy development, business and economics, and people-centred, grounded research in social change in energy, climate and environmental practices. Matt’s recent work has specialised in the political, social and economic challenges to sustainable energy transitions in the Global South, leading research projects in India, Nepal and Papua New Guinea.

Matt completed his PhD with the UQ Energy & Poverty Research Group in 2018. His supervisors were Professor Paul Lant, Professor Chris Greig and A/Professor Simon Smart from UQ School of Chemical Engineering, and A/Professor Elske van de Fliert from the UQ Centre for Communication and Social Change.
