
Researcher biography
Professor Robert Henry is Director of UQ’s Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI). Professor Henry has advanced knowledge and experience in biomass chemistry and plant biotechnology/genomics. As well as internationally recognised expertise in the biochemistry of biomass formation and deconstruction, he has worked with the definition of traits for bioenergy crops, the analysis of their genomes and identification of the molecular basis of factors determining the efficiency of conversion of biomass to biofuels. He also has extensive experience in research management.
Before coming to QAAFI, Professor Henry was Director of the Centre for Plant Conservation Genetics at Southern Cross University, a centre which he established in 1996. Other previous positions held by Professor Henry include Research Director of the Grain Foods Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) (until 2010) and Research Program Leader in the Queensland Agricultural Biotechnology Centre (until 1996). Professor Henry has authored more than 300 peer-reviewed journal papers, which have been cited by his colleagues more than 6400 times.
